The incumbent is a junior FSN in the Embassy Dhaka Political/Economic Section and advises the Embassy Political/Economic Section and other offices (upon request) on all aspects of Bangladeshi political affairs. S/he reports to the senior Political Specialist, and focuses on domestic politics, human rights, and security issues. In coordination with the Political-Military officer, focuses on security issues relating to law enforcement, defense, Indo-Pacific affairs, Bangladesh’s external relations, and counterterrorism. In Bangladesh, where human rights issues are heavily politicized, collects and assembles reporting from multiple sources on human rights violations.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, History, Law, Journalism, Foreign Area Studies (United States), National Security of Business Administration is required (U.S. equivalent – University Degree). (You must attach a copy of your certificates along with your application form.)
- Three years of progressive responsibility working with a foreign Embassy or government institution, political research or analysis, foreign affairs, newspaper reporting focused on politics, university teaching, public administration, or politics is required.
- Language: Fluent in English and Bangla (Read/Write/Speak) is required, may include the ability to translate. This may be tested.
