Bangladesh Government Holidays Calendar 2024 (BD Public Holidays 2024)
In a recent development, the cabinet of the Bangladesh Government has given the green light to a proposed list of 22 holidays for the upcoming calendar year, 2024. However, it’s worth noting that this decision comes with the caveat that two of these holidays are set to coincide with weekends, specifically falling on Fridays. This decision was made during a cabinet meeting held at the Bangladesh Secretariat, which was chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday, October 23.
This move underscores the government’s commitment to planning and scheduling holidays for the year ahead, and it reflects the considerations of ensuring that the public can fully enjoy and observe these holidays, even when they fall on weekends. The decision from the cabinet meeting highlights the proactive approach of the Bangladesh Government in managing public holidays and making them accessible to all citizens.
As per circular of Bangladesh Government, the holiday of Eid Ul Fitr is from 10 April 2024 to 12 April 2023 which may extend one more day based on appearance of the moon.
There will be 14 general holidays and eight additional holidays as a result of executive directives issued by the government. According to Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam, the decision was made at the Cabinet meeting on Monday. Next year, there will be 22 public holidays in 2023, with eight of them being weekends.”
In 2022, there were also 22 public holidays.
Date of Eid ul Fitr 2024 in Bangladesh is 11 April 2023 and date of Eid ul Adha 2023 is 17 June 2023 and both of them are depends on appearance of the moon.

Bangladesh Government and Public Holiday Calendar 2024
Offices, agencies and institutions whose schedules and holidays are regulated by their own laws or whose jobs have been declared as essential by the Government, the concerned offices, agencies and institutions shall declare such leave in the public interest in accordance with their own laws and regulations.
