Beef Price Set at Tk from 650/kg Today, Declared by Authority
Beef Price Tk 650/kg in Bangladesh from Today
As the nation approaches a vibrant season, beef traders have decided to embark on a strategic pricing shift in the upcoming month, setting the sale of beef at an enticing Tk 650 per kilogram. This visionary pricing plan is scheduled to take effect from today, 7th December 2023, enhancing the market dynamics. It has been communicated by the traders that post this period, a reevaluation of beef prices will be undertaken, promising a renewed market strategy.
At the office of Sadik Agro in Mohammadpur, the decision was made during a meeting of the Bangladesh Dairy Farmers Association (BDFA) and the Meat Traders Association, closely involved with beef production and marketing. Confirming the decision, Golum Murtaza, the President of the Meat Traders Association, stated that beef would be sold at Tk 650 per kilogram in the markets of the capital starting from today. Subsequently, this price will be implemented nationwide. He mentioned that both traders and consumers will not have the opportunity to buy beef at different prices in different markets, asserting their mutual interest.
According to sources from the traders’ meeting, each kilogram of beef will consist of 750 grams of meat, 200 grams of bones, and 50 grams of fat. The traders will not be allowed to sell inferior quality meat. After a month of trial sales, the prices will be reconsidered.
In Dhaka’s markets, beef is being sold at varying prices, some as high as Tk 600 per kilogram. This inconsistency in prices across different areas has left buyers confused. To address this, a meeting was held at the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate last Sunday involving all concerned parties for a consensus on beef prices. During that meeting, meat traders engaged in heated debates.
No decision was reached that day by the traders. However, it was decided in the meeting that the Bangladesh Meat Traders Association, along with BDFA, will set the accurate beef prices. The decision from that meeting will be submitted as a report to the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate by next Sunday. Simultaneously, the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission (BTTC) will inspect the beef market.
